Go Ara is a South Korean actress and model who won SM Entertainment's Teen Model Contest in 2003 and started acting the same year in the school drama Sharp 1, which brought her Best Young Actress at the KBS Drama Awards. Snow Flower (2006) won her Best New Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Who Are You? (2008) carried her name abroad. Reply 1994 (2013) restarted her career — she cut her hair short and put on weight for the part — and she has since appeared in You're All Surrounded (2014), Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016), Black (2017), Ms. Hammurabi (2018), Haechi (2019) and Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (2020), and in the film The Childe (2023). In Reply 1994 she played Sung Na Jung, the basketball-obsessed engineering student whose parents run the Shinchon boarding house — and whose husband, nineteen years later, is one of the men living in it. She sang "Start" for the drama's soundtrack.
