Yoo Yeon Seok, born Ahn Yeon Seok, is a South Korean actor who first appeared at nineteen in Park Chan Wook's Oldboy (2003) — cast as the younger version of Yoo Ji Tae's character after a friend on the costume staff noticed the resemblance. He then stepped back for several years to finish his degree and serve in the Air Force, returning to work in 2008 under a stage name. Architecture 101 and A Werewolf Boy (both 2012) brought him back into view and Reply 1994 (2013) made him a lead. He has since anchored Dr. Romantic (2016), Mr. Sunshine (2018), Hospital Playlist (2020) and When the Phone Rings (2024), and works regularly on stage, in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder among others. In Reply 1994 he played Chilbong, the Yonsei baseball pitcher named for his seven shutouts, and sang "Only Feeling You" for the soundtrack with Jung Woo and Son Ho Jun.
