Park Hae Jin began in the KBS weekend drama "Famous Chil Princesses" in 2006, which brought him Best New Actor at the 43rd Baeksang Arts Awards, and followed it with the daily drama "Heaven & Earth" opposite Han Hyo Joo and MBC's anniversary drama "East of Eden". A season on the variety show "Family Outing" in 2009 widened his audience at home, but it was China that made him: his first Chinese drama, "Qian Duo Duo Marry Remember" (2011), took 1.5 billion views in a fortnight, its rights sold to Japan, and he became the first Korean actor to win the Asia Star Award at the LeTV Awards. A Lotte Cinema screen in China was named after him.

Back in Korea, "Seoyoung, My Daughter" (2012) peaked at 47.6%. Then two supporting parts that travelled: Lee Hwi Kyung, the S&C heir who has loved Cheon Song Yi since middle school, in "My Love from the Star" (2013), and "Doctor Stranger" (2014). He led OCN's "Bad Guys" that year, and in 2016 took "Cheese in the Trap", which topped Weibo's Korean and Japanese drama chart with over 1.9 billion views and won him Best Actor at the Korea Cable TV Awards. He reprised the role for the 2018 film. He has since led "Man to Man" (2017), "Forest" and "Kkondae Intern" (2020) — the latter taking the Daesang at the MBC Drama Awards — "From Now On, Showtime!" (2022) and "The Killing Vote" (2023). He was the first Korean to appear on Chinese postage stamps, and has a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

The industry calls him the donation angel. Mountain Movement counted 1.7 billion won given to charities at home and abroad since 2011; he was the first recipient of the Happiness Sharer's Award from the Minister of Health and Welfare, and took China's Civil Public Welfare Award in 2014. He opened a theatre in China whose profits pay for children's operations — its first two takings covered ear reconstruction for a six-year-old and heart surgery for a seven-month-old, and he visited both before and after. He has planted more than twelve thousand trees in western China with his fans against desertification, and every year since 2015 he has spent a day doing volunteer work in the Guryong district alongside the people who leave abusive comments about him. In 2018 he was made an honorary firefighter, and promoted to honorary fire marshal in December 2019.
