Set at the elite Sevit High School in Seoul, the drama follows five students trying to survive an environment where academic ranking is everything.
Kang Yeon Doo leads "Real King", an outcast street dance club whose members band together over their poor grades. Kim Yeol is president of "Baek Ho", the elite club drawn from the school's top five percent. When the two clubs are forcibly merged into a cheerleading squad, the pair set their differences aside for the sake of their friends.
What follows is an ordinary high school story of love, heartbreak, pain and friendship — and of a group of teenagers pushing back against the pressure and the corruption around them.
Ranked 196th of the school's 200 students, Yeon Doo sits at the bottom of the pecking order, with only her childhood friend Dong Jae and her street dance club "Real King" for company. Loyal, sassy and strong-willed, she will put herself at risk to fight the corruption in her school.
President of "Baek Ho" and the highest-ranked student at Sevit. The son of a wealthy father he is estranged from, his intelligence has made him cynical and arrogant, but it also lets him see through the scheming adults around him.
Second in the school and a member of "Baek Ho", pressured by her mother to place first and reach an Ivy League university. Focused entirely on her studies, she misses the value of friendship, and turns to manipulating those around her to meet expectations she cannot reach.
Yeon Doo's childhood friend and a talented basketball player. A traumatic childhood incident left him with a phobia of physical contact. Childlike in manner, he becomes the first person to truly understand Soo Ah's pain.
